Scorpio New Moon 2025

The 5th labor of Hercules: cleaning the Augean Stables, which he ingeniously does by rerouting rivers

.

The Scorpio New Moon of 2025 occurs on Thursday, November 20, at 12:27 am CST. Again we have the Sun and Moon conjunct at the later degrees of the sign, this time at 28°11’ Scorpio. The ruler of this New Moon is Mars, who is in Sagittarius at 11°23’, squaring the lunar nodes in Pisces and Virgo, which means we might want to be aware of how our impulse toward assertion, action, or aggression could be pulling us off our course at this new Moon.

The Sun and Moon are conversing with all kind of folk in this New Moon Chart. They are in a stellium with Mercury retrograde at 28°27’ Scorpio, and these three are all opposite Uranus in Taurus at 29°29’. The Sun, Moon, and Mercury are also in a Grand Water Trine aspect pattern with Saturn and Neptune at 25°12’ and 29°29’ Pisces respectively, and Jupiter in Cancer at 25°01’.

Whenever we look at any chart, whether it be a natal chart, a New Moon chart, a business chart, we look for repeating themes. A repeating theme of this Scorpio New Moon chart is New Beginnings. Of course, you may be thinking, new Moons are always a time of new beginnings! But this Scorpio new Moon is also making an inferior conjunction with Mercury retrograde. “Inferior” simply means that Mercury is currently located in space in between the Earth and the Sun, which happens only when Mercury is retrograde. The conjunction that happens when Mercury is direct is known as a “superior” conjunction, and that occurs when the Sun is located between the Earth and Mercury in space, or put another way, Mercury is on the other side of the Sun from Earth.

The inferior conjunction of Mercury retrograde and the Sun is akin to a “New Mercury”, similar to a New Moon that is conjunct the Sun. It is the beginning of a roughly 116 day cycle with Mercury, and it is at the point of the inferior conjunction that Mercury goes from being an evening star to a morning star, seemingly leading the Sun into a new cycle, rising before the Sun at daybreak. Can you see the symbolism of why this inferior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun is considered to be the beginning of a new cycle?

Even though Mercury is still retrograde, there is a development taking place or a seeding at this New Mercury moment that has yet to develop legs or roots over the next 116-ish days. What is it in your life that you have reorganized, reconsidered or revisited in the past week and a half since Mercury has been retrograde that will now allow you to better begin something anew at this dual New Moon and New Mercury moment? I am proud to say that I have cleared out all of my email inboxes and unsubscribed to just about everything -  I wasn’t reading it anyway. Feels SO good, y’all! So freeing. Also, I revisited (and finished!) a knitting project that was literally years in the knitting. So, yes, I will be wearing those leg warmers (or “leg koozies” as my darling hesher husband referred to them as) pretty much every day for the duration. If you haven’t done any “re” activities in the past couple weeks, is there any stereotypical Mercury retrograde type thing that has happened recently that has jammed you up somehow? Such hassles as: an account you were locked out of, a broken phone, a missed package? Can you embrace these hiccups or hassles as an invitation to become more contemplative, perhaps more aware of mindless distractions and how you engage with them? Can you think of these hassles as an outer manifestation of your inner trickster Mercury beckoning you to listen, reflect, and become more mindful? In what way may your inner Mercury be guiding you out of the last 116-ish day Mercury cycle, so that what you have reframed or reorganized can then be utilized somehow in the creation of the beginnings of this next New Mercury cycle?

Since the Sun, Moon, and Mercury retrograde are all opposite Uranus in Taurus, the answers to these or any other reflections may appear in a sudden flash of insight, or in a creative burst of ideas that seems to come at you all at once. Perhaps there may be a sudden or unexpected break-up of structures that somehow allows for a type of freedom for the new to begin? We could go so far as to suggest there may be an intellectual or spiritual awakening of sorts - we never know with Uranus in play what sorts of liberating events could be in store for us.

Since the Sun, Moon, and Mercury are also part of a grand trine in water signs, there may be an emotionally honest outpouring that is perhaps cathartic, and while potentially intense, may feel like a flow of emotions that is right on time. Speaking of time, be sure to harness Saturn’s presence in that flowing grand water trine by organizing those creative insights, or at least recording them in a way that can be organized later. It may be that once your originality and creativity is stimulated, the ideas and insights appear in lightning-like flashes - bottle that lightning! With Jupiter in Cancer in the trine, accept few limits as you creatively author your life story. As you envision what this new beginning means for you, have faith that you are be being guided down your life path by benevolent providence. Jupiter is the “what”, and Saturn is the “how” - let them flow together to assist you in setting your intentions at this Scorpio New Moon.

I have found that using the house placement in which the New Moon occurs so useful for setting intentions and manifesting ideas into form, as it not only helps to organize my thoughts, but if utilized throughout the year, touches on each area of life that the houses represent, helping us to become more well-rounded individuals. Also, it allows for Divine co-creation, as it often magically lines up with what is already wanting to come forth in that specific area of life in which the New Moon occurs. If you aren’t sure which house this New Moon falls in your chart, feel free to reach out to me for that information.
