Taurus full Moon 2025

The Taurus full Moon is exact at 13°22’ on Wednesday, November 5 at 7:19 am CST. Although the Moon in Taurus in general can be all about the creature comforts of life, and can often feel like a much-needed balm for our parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” nervous system, as opposed to the “fight or flight” of the sympathetic nervous system), this particular Taurus full Moon chart has some fighty - flighty energy in it. I say this because there is an opposition between Mars, who has newly entered the fire sign of Sagittarius and is applying to a conjunction with Mercury in Sagittarius, and Uranus, who is retrograde at the very beginning degrees of Gemini. Mars is the planet of action, assertion, aggression, and he has moved from his rulership in Scorpio into Sagittarius - the sign of big ideas and the quest for meaning and adventure. Mercury, the quicksilver planet of communication is also there, but is moving sloooowww by Mercury’s standard, as they prepare for their station retrograde. Imagine a car driving slowly forward in preparation to stop before it then shifts into reverse and backs up - this is the current energy of Mercury, who will station retrograde at 06°51’ Sagittarius on Sunday, November 9th at 1:01 pm CST.

So Mercury is moving annoyingly slowly by their own standards in the fire sign of Sagittarius - can we imagine into that for a moment? Since Trick or Treat just occurred, let’s use that scenario as an example. Imagine a normally ramroddy kiddo out in their neighborhood trick or treating. Let’s say maybe they’ve had some candy already and they are REAL amped up and ready to race from house to house to say those magic words “Trick or Treat”, and procure some more of that nectar of the Halloween gods and goddesses. But something is holding them back from racing around and keeping up with the group of kids that they’re cavorting with, who are leaving the normally quick kiddo behind. Maybe it’s the kid’s costume that is unwieldy and slowing them down, maybe it’s a younger sibling who they’ve been tasked with monitoring - whatever it is, the kid is getting a little frustrated with the slowness. And then here come Mars, newly on the Trick or Treat scene, with his abundant energy for action in freedom-loving Sagittarius, ready to tackle this adventure with gusto. Maybe the Mars kid knows that there is a super Halloween house up the next block, which is all lit up with every type of Halloween decoration; ROBOTS are handing out FULL SIZE candies, and there is an electrified, light-up maze, and if you are able to get through that maze, you are rewarded with yet another FULL SIZE candy. Maybe the Mercury kid feels the tension of that electric Halloween paradise out there, and this Mars kid’s enthusiasm is contagious. The Mercury kid can’t help but tap into that Mars energy of “Veni Vidi Vici” for this Trick or Treat paradise out there, and starts to really dislike the slowness of the present situation - maybe the Mercury kid sheds the costume that is slowing them down, or leaves the younger sibling in the dust to fend for themselves. The Mercury kid may rationalize that “hey, why is this kid MY responsibility? Shouldn’t our parents be dealing with this situation?” Or “why did I have to wear THIS costume that is slowing me down? I wanted to be Katniss!” Either way, the Mercury kid may get a little self-righteous about their situation, and be unable to resist that Mars kid’s energy for action and conquest, which is spurred on by the tension of that electric Halloween paradise and its gift and promise of liberation just down the block. This is the energy of Mars applying to conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius, opposing Uranus in Gemini.

Now, how can we translate this energy to our own lives? Since Mercury is the planet of communication, how might our ability to communicate be impacted by this type of situation? Uranus is out there, providing some disrupting excitement or tension, and Mars is sidling up, craving some ACTION. Might we want to take a beat before we speak or communicate under this full Moon? Or at least work out the source of our frustration and need for action or conquest before we communicate with others, and try not to be so high and mighty while doing so? Unless of course, the situation calls for it, and let’s face it, righteous indignation does have its place! As does disruption. But let’s try to deliver our message in a way that is the least harmful, mmk?

Moving on to the ruler of this full Moon in Taurus - what is Venus doing? Venus is still happily in her other rulership in Libra, as she was at the time of the Libra new Moon. This time, however, she is at 28°15’ Libra, opposite Chiron in Aries at 24°01’, and square to Jupiter in Cancer at 25°04’. Libra, Cancer and Aries are Cardinal signs; Cardinal energy is about initiation, fresh starts, and meeting challenges. What challenge or fresh start might be illuminated for us at this full Moon?

With Venus as the ruler of this full Moon in this tense aspect pattern, we are revisiting a theme from the Libra new Moon of two weeks ago, when the new Moon was in this same aspect pattern with Chiron and Jupiter. At the Libra New Moon, we suggested there may be a tense situation involving a mentor or mentee that comes to a head. Or perhaps an old wound that you maybe thought had been worked through gets a little ouchy again, as if the scab has been unceremoniously ripped off that wound, or scar tissue that had developed around the wound is now causing its own set of problems. This situation or experience could show up somehow reflected in your personal belief system or in your personal philosophy. Or perhaps the experience itself may feel somehow outsized, or larger in some way than the situation seemingly calls for. It may be that as a result of experiencing this tension or pain, you come to more easily see the situation itself in a wider context, as if you have somehow zoomed out and are now finding yourself able to integrate the disparate parts; perhaps you are finally seeing the larger picture of what is happening unfold before you. With Venus now involved (essentially taking the place of the Sun and Moon in the t-square aspect pattern from the Libra new Moon) there may be something that may be illuminated under this full Moon about your value system, or your creative endeavors, or your relationships, that feels tense or somewhat ouchy. Perhaps you feel slighted somehow, and at this Full Moon you are able to feel the tension of this slight, and maybe put it into a larger context. Whatever comes up for you at this Taurus Full Moon, follow the threads back to your intentions that you set at the Libra New Moon and see if there is anything that is coming up that may show you how those intentions may or may not be playing out, and what, if anything, wants to be released to allow for those intentions to play out.

And DO lean into those Taurus full Moon vibes in any way you can. Perhaps by treating you and yours to nature’s bounty - be it glorying in the splendor of the autumn leaves, or enjoying the delicious local produce - so abundant this time of year, and so easy to access in the IC area through Field to Family! https://orders.fieldtofamily.org/

Maybe indulging in a relaxing spa day, or simply enjoying a fragrant cup of herbal tea while snuggled in a cozy blanket is more to your liking? Lean in to anything that delights the senses and takes enjoyment in the pleasures of life - the simpler, the better. Since this full Moon is a SUPER MOON, get outside and glory in that lunar splendor, too!

Since at the full Moon we typically think of it as is an excellent time to release what no longer serves us, we could think about what we need to release in order to further our new Moon intentions that we set back at the Libra new Moon. What is being illuminated for you at this full Moon that wants to be released?

When releasing during the full Moon, I like to make it a thing. It doesn’t have to be exactly at the time of the full Moon, it can be any time in the day or night leading up to it, which is typically what I prefer, but do what you are able. If you miss the night before, do it the night of or even the day or night after, as long as the Moon still appears full in the sky, the symbology is there for you to work with. Take some time and create a sacred space for yourself and whoever else would like to make it a thing with you. This doesn’t have to be elaborate. Simply sitting quietly and focusing on your breath with lightly closed eyes and spine as erect as possible, or focusing on the sounds in your environment and intentionally taking this moment to connect with yourself and with the nurturing energy of the Moon, which I like to think of as our Cosmic Mother. If you have a meditative practice, feel free to incorporate that into your full Moon practice, but let the Moon guide you, don’t get too far into your solar self of Doing, but allow yourself to simply exist in your lunar self of Being. If you like to really get into your ritual practice, please do make it as elaborate as you wish. At the end of my full Moon practice, I like to make a list of what I’m releasing. I simply write “I release:” at the top of a piece of paper, and then I write down everything that came up during my quiet time with myself. And then I burn that mofo! Safely and mindfully into my little metal cauldron - let’s not set our selves or homes alight please. It really is very freeing to watch the smoke from the burning list curl up into the ethers. Some folks like to incorporate the water element by tossing the cooled ashes into a body of water afterwards, but I’m happy to scatter them to the winds, figuring they’ll make it to water someday. COOLED ashes, mind you, ok? And there, just like that you have made some space for your higher Self to lead you on to your highest and best expression of yourself.

I’m a big proponent of gratitude, so I like to give thanks at the end of my practice, so give thanks to whatever Deity you feel is guiding you. If you are PTSD from CCD or whatever other childhood teachings were foisted upon you, and don’t like the thought of Deities, simply give thanks to yourself for making this time to connect with yourself and give thanks to the Universe for coexisting with you.

Because as my yoga teacher Jaki Nett likes to say that everything comes back to yoga, we’ll tie this practice into yoga philosophy, wherein which one of the eight limbs of yoga are the Niyamas. The Niyamas are virtues or individual disciplines which calm the disturbed mind. One of these five Niyamas is known as Isvara Pranidhana, or “surrender to the Divine of all our actions”. In surrendering, we allow for the Divine to work its own magic, co-creating with us. If you’d like to work with the Zodiacal houses, and aren’t sure which house this Full Moon falls in your chart, feel free to reach out to me for that information.
