Capricorn Full Moon 2025

Seagoat vibes

The Capricorn full Moon is exact at 18°50’ on Thursday, July 10 at 3:36 pm CST. This full Moon once again trines Mars, this time in Virgo at 13°, and sextiles the North Node in Pisces at 20° and trines the South Node in Virgo at 20°. Due to this configuration, this full Moon may shed some light on possible actions that we could take to move toward our collective higher calling at the Pisces North Node, while at the same time revealing an opportunity to put some of our collective inherent gifts or skills into action whilst moving toward that higher calling. One of my teachers, Dr. Safron Rossi, describes this Virgo-Pisces polarity thusly: Virgo is understanding through discrimination and process, and Pisces is understanding through instinct and the intuitive level. Perhaps this full Moon will shed some light on how we can better move toward trusting and utilizing our intuition and instinct through our inherent skills of active discrimination and process.

Saturn in Aries is the ruler of this full Moon in Capricorn, and Saturn is talking to all the heavy hitters in this full Moon chart. The third and final square from Saturn in Aries to Jupiter in Cancer is still in play, though Jupiter is slowly but steadily separating away from that square; the themes associated with this Jupiter-Saturn square from the last full Moon in Sagittarius remain, but may be starting to lessen or hopefully integrate on some level in ourselves and in society. To recap, this is the opening square of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction that occurred on Winter Solstice 2020 at 0° Aquarius, which highlighted Aquarian themes of equality, fairness, and social conscience, and started a 200 year cycle of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in Air signs, which will highlight Air principles such as communication, relationship, and civilization. As we touched on briefly, Rudhyar described the opening square as indicating a time of “crisis in action” which requires definite acts of self-assertion sufficient to break away from obsolete past conditioning. I don’t know about you, but that tracks for me fo sho.

Saturn is conjunct and parallel Neptune in Aries, and both of these planets are also in dialog with Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini, making a cute little “small talent triangle” as described by the Hubers in their book Aspect Pattern Astrology. The small talent triangle consists of Pluto in Aquarius trining Uranus in Gemini, and both of these planets sextile the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries. The Hubers describe the energy of the small talent triangle as one of a “still developing talent”, with growth achieved by adapting, and a gradual development into a “distinctive and specialized talent” over time, with knowledge and skills gained by calmly absorbing experiences into our consciousness, and not necessarily through active striving. While Saturn will eventually move away from this small talent triangle, the outer planets will remain in this aspect pattern for several years, hopefully providing calming support for the social changes of this new Air and Fire era that we are slowly but surely entering. How can we as individuals calmly absorb experiences into our consciousness, with the aim of gaining knowledge and skills, while growing by remaining adaptable? This growth that we achieve by remaining adaptable may gradually develop into a distinctive or specialized talent over time. What does that look like to you? There are many years to ponder these ideas while this aspect pattern is in effect, so just put that in the old think tank and let it stew.

We can’t talk about the Capricorn full Moon without talking about the Cancer-Capricorn polarity. Both signs are feminine signs, with Cancer being a Water sign and Capricorn an Earth sign. Cancer is associated with Mother, home, security, and nurturing, and Capricorn is associated with Father, responsibility, achievement, and mastery. Which brings me to what I really want to reflect on at this Capricorn full Moon, based on a conversation I had the other day - the idea of the positive masculine role model, and what does that look like in our society today? Hell if I know, but I will now regale you with an example of such from my youth, which I spontaneously recalled while putting together a halasana bench a couple weeks ago. The bench had several nuts and bolts, and while putting it together, I remembered that as a teenager, my friend JJ and I had driven my mom’s car to the mall in the town 30 minutes or so from our town. On the way home, we got a flat tire. This was before cell phones, so we pulled over and got out of the car and wondered wtf to do. A woman stopped, and asked if she could help. JJ asked her to go to her house, which was on the way back to town, and tell her dad what had happened. I should preface this by saying that JJ’s family was the sort of stable, supportive family that I always envied. It was just JJ and her older brother; her dad was some type of professional and her mom was a teacher, mostly a substitute teacher, if I remember right. Both were supportive, stable parents with only two children and all the time and energy in the world to devote to them. JJ’s dad showed up by the side of the road in his coveralls and ball cap, carrying his toolbox. I’d only ever seen him in white collar, suburban dad clothes, and was surprised that he even owned coveralls and a ball cap. He showed us how to jack up the car, take the tire off and put the spare on, and then he made us do it ourselves, so that we could learn experientially. He taught us that when tightening the bolts, you do it gradually and evenly - you don’t crank one down and then move to the next, a lesson I remembered while putting together the bench. This is just one example of positive masculine role model energy, but I know her dad likely exuded it on the daily, because I remember an incident from high school involving JJ’s older brother that indicated as such. Something had occurred between the football team and the choir. We were a small school and many people were in every activity. The star quarterback and wide receiver were both in show choir - major eye candy. We won show choir competitions because of them, I’m not kidding. Anyhoo, something happened, maybe they missed football practice due to a choir competition? I don’t know, but one of the football players who was NOT in show choir started some type of unofficial anti-choir campaign, in which he utilized a homophobic slur, which sadly, was not uncommon at the time. JJ’s older brother got involved somehow, he was Team Choir. I can’t remember all of the specifics, but JJ’s brother may have started an anti-this one specific football player campaign, and there may have been t-shirts made, and for sure JJ’s brother wore pink every. single. day. from the beginning of the incident to the end of the year. I believe this was in response to this one football player calling JJ’s brother that same homophobic slur because he was wearing pink? The details are fuzzy, but the positive masculine role model energy was most definitely there in JJ’s brother as well as her dad. At this Capricorn full Moon, what does positive masculine role model energy look like to you? How can you cultivate or draw in that type of energy in your life?

As a reminder, the full Moon is an excellent time to release what no longer serves us. In yoga philosophy, one of the eight limbs of yoga are the Niyamas. The Niyamas are virtues or individual disciplines which calm the disturbed mind. One of these five Niyamas is known as Isvara Pranidhana, or “surrender to the Divine of all our actions”. In surrendering, we allow for the Divine to work its own magic, co-creating with us.

Surrendering or releasing by house placement topics; if the full Moon falls in your:

1st house: The approach you take when confronting life’s challenges, how you develop character

2nd house: How you feel about the accumulation and use of things

3rd house: Development of practical skills

4th house: Developing self-sufficiency

5th house: The mastery of self that comes with maturity

6th house: Self-improvement through applied discipline, taking personal responsibility for your work output

7th house: Working toward something in relationship

8th house: Responsibility to other

9th house: Challenging yourself to live among unfamiliar customs or different ways of thinking

10th house: Setting high standards of conduct and meeting these standards

11th house: Urges to improve the lot of self or others

12th house: Self-imposed personal limitations can just as easily be dissolved as created
