Leo New Moon 2025
Intention setting in Colorado
The Leo New Moon 2025 occurs on Thursday, July 24, at 2:11 pm CST. I’m posting this blog later than I like because I recently returned from Boulder, Colorado, where our Astrology University 2025 graduation ceremony was held. The picture accompanying this blog post is the spot where I and my stunning and brilliant classmates set our intentions for how we’d like to work with astrology going forward, after our four years of rigorous study and work. Apologies to the rando sitting by the stream, you are now part of this blog post.
The energy present in the Leo New Moon chart is quite promising, as the Leo New Moon is closely aspecting many of the heavy hitters of the Cosmos, giving our intention-setting an added level of catalyzing energy. Let’s break it down, shall we? The Leo New Moon at 02°08’ is closely trining the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries at 01°49’ and 02°04’ respectively, which provides a conscious, creative flow of empowerment in action, urging us to become the part of the Universe that we are meant to be; there is a flow of self-expressive energy between the Sun-Moon conjunction and the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, as if these four celestial bodies are empowering each other with a sense of mastery. This may provide us here on Earth with an inspirational spiritual vision for our intentions that emerges from the flow and stream of consciousness, as well as an ability to plan strategically to bring those visions into concrete form, through consistent and disciplined effort. We may experience the git ‘r done energy of Saturn coupled with the transcendent fairy glamour energy of Neptune - a perfect mix of energies for Making the Ideal Real, as Richard Tarnas puts it in his titular essay that my resourceful classmate Jill passed along to me. Thanks, Jill!
This Leo New Moon at 02°08’ is also closely opposing Pluto retrograde in Aquarius at 02°36’, so we may be presented with an opportunity to dig more deeply into that tension of opposites that is present in this New Moon chart, hopefully emerging transformed in some way by integrating that tension into our individual self-expression, perhaps starting over in some way with a more broad-minded, humane, and authentic new identity. Pluto is also sextile that Saturn-Neptune conjunction that is trine to the Sun-Moon conjunction, so this will likely be a larger conversation, encompassing the themes of that Sun-Moon trine to Saturn-Neptune along with the Sun-Moon opposition to Pluto.
Since the opposition aspect is fundamentally relational, we may find that our relationships could become a source of the tension that is urging us forward in our development toward our authentic self-expression. This similar energy is repeated in the New Moon chart with the separating square from Venus in Gemini at 22°40’ to Mars in Virgo at 21°53’ which was exact at 21°00’ on July 23 at 3:23 am CST. A somewhat similar energy is again echoed with Venus squaring the transiting nodes in Virgo and Pisces, which was exact at 19°32’ on July 21 at 8:20 pm CST, and is still present in the Leo New Moon chart. Gemini, Virgo, and Pisces are all mutable signs, which operate with the energy of being able to effortlessly pivot and adapt to circumstances. Any tensions that we may experience in relationships may feel like they are all over the place, particularly if we don’t have many mutable placements in our natal charts. To resolve the tension in the relationship, we may feel that there is a clearly discernible action that needs to be taken, or we may feel that we are being urged by “the other” to take such an action. Both Venus in Gemini and Mars in Virgo are ruled by Mercury, who is currently retrograde in Leo at 13°50’, so conversations that may occur in our relationships at this time could perhaps be a continuation of an ongoing discussion, or may likely be revisited in the near future.
Finally, let us not neglect to mention the close sextile from Sun-Moon in Leo at 2°08’ to Uranus in Gemini at 00°41’. This Uranus is also sextile to the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries, and trine to Pluto in Aquarius, which as mentioned in previous blog posts is an aspect pattern that is gonna be around for a while. With Uranus, there is always the possibility of sudden breakthroughs, those Eureka! moments that seem to materialize out of thin air. So let’s all lean into that possibility of a liberating gift from the heavens while setting our Leo New Moon intentions.
I have found that using the house placement in which the New Moon occurs in so useful for setting intentions and manifesting ideas into form, as it not only helps to organize my thoughts, but if utilized throughout the year, touches on each area of life that the houses represent, helping us to become more well-rounded individuals. Also, it allows for Divine co-creation, as it often magically lines up with what is already wanting to come forth in that specific area of life in which the New Moon occurs.
