Taurus Full Moon 2026

Happy Spooky Season to all who celebrate! Here’s an IRL partay invite for you!

Saturday, October 24, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

I’m posting this Taurus full Moon blog earlier than typical, in case anybody else is feeling the intensity of this current phase of Venus’s retrograde, occurring from about October 16 through October 23 - the time when Venus is no longer visible in the sky, and is symbolically being stripped of her identity in the underworld. For us humans, this time can be thought of as a time when Venus is assisting us in becoming aware of what no longer sustains us around Venusian themes such as relationships (intimate or otherwise), pleasure, beauty, creativity, finances, appearance, likes and dislikes. By releasing played-out habits, attitudes, or behaviors that are no longer sustainable, we may be able to heal old relationship wounds that could be plaguing our current relationships.

On October 23, Venus retrograde will conjunct the Sun at 00°45’ Scorpio, and this is said to be a time of Venus’s purification in the fires of the Sun, and marks the next phase of Venus’s underworld journey. So pay attention this week to what is coming into your awareness, what wants to be stripped or burned away in the fires of the Sun that the upcoming full Moon in Taurus may shine a spotlight on for you.

I will be offering short-and-dirty 10 minute full Moon chart explorations at the above-mentioned party, so if you’re curious if the full Moon is making any aspects to planets or points in your natal chart, where this full Moon is occurring in your personal horoscope (which house or area of life), and what story could be told based on that symbolism, c’mon down with your birth horoscope or birth info and we’ll suss it out together!

This Taurus full Moon is exact at 02°45’ on Sunday, October 25, at 11:11 pm CST. There is quite a bit of complexity in this Taurus full Moon chart, but let’s see if we can parse out some of the symbolism, shall we? It is echoing much of what we have been exploring since the Autumnal Equinox, but this full Moon seems to mark a bit of a turning point in the energies.

  • The Sun at 02°45’ Scorpio is out-of-sign conjunct retrograde Venus at 29°31’ Libra; Venus is the ruler of this full Moon in Taurus. The Moon is out-of-sign conjunct retrograde Chiron at 28°20’ Aries.

  • The Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus are in a Fixed sign t-square with Pluto in Aquarius at 03°05’. Pluto stationed direct on October 10.

Both Venus in Libra and Chiron in Aries are being pulled into this Fixed sign t-square by virtue of their proximity to the Luminaries (aka the Sun and Moon), despite Venus and Chiron both moving backwards through the Cardinal signs of Libra and Aries.

First, let’s dig into the ruler of this full Moon in Taurus, Venus. Venus as ruler of Taurus is known as Venus Pandemos - an earthly Venus, associated with independence, the morning star, the warrior, earthly pleasures, simplicity, and instinctive attraction and aversion. Taurus as a style of awareness is instinctive and down to Earth, attuned to what the 6 senses are telling us about our environment: Does something not smell right here? What is my gut feeling about this person - am I attracted to or repelled by their presence? Can I see, touch, hear, smell, sense the beauty that they are emanating?

Venus in the sky started her retrograde journey as an evening star on October 3 in the sign of Scorpio at 8°29’. She disappeared from the sky around October 16, while still in the sign of Scorpio, and will re-emerge as a morning star in the sign of Libra around October 30.

The time that Venus is no longer visible in the sky is a meaningful time, and myths from ancient Sumeria and from the Aztec and Mayan people illustrate this time of Venus’s retrograde as a descent into the underworld, where Venus is tested and undergoes a stripping away of identity and an eventual death and rebirth in the fires of the Sun. The Aztec and Mayan people believed that Venus morning star is reborn as a female goddess of war, rising from the underworld covered in blood and the bones of the dead, ready for battle. Historically, it was at the time of the heliacal rising of morning star Venus that the Mayans would send their armies to war.

For modern humans, the time of Venus retrograde can be thought of as a time to go inside, to reflect, review, reset, and set the stage for renewal. With Venus beginning her retrograde journey in Scorpio, we might imagine that evening star Venus may be willing to go deep with brutal honesty into her style of relating, her relationships with others, her relationship with money, her likes and dislikes. This Venus in Scorpio will be unearthing anything that isn’t working, cleansing away the mess that may have accumulated in these areas of her life and psyche. It is likely an underworld journey that may be unpleasant at times, but she will eventually emerge from her journey victorious - ready to stand steady in herself, improved in her ability to be in relationship with others in a way that sustains her.

I refer to Venus as “her”, but if you attended my Venus Retrograde Class at Harvest Preserve, you heard multiple examples from different ancient peoples, illustrating the gender shifts that often accompany the story of Venus’s retrograde journey. Therefore, Venus retrograde is also a good time to reflect on our own experience or expression of gender, with awareness and intentional focus - a conscious claiming of both the masculine and feminine energies inside all of us, no matter how we identify along the gender spectrum. This reflection could also include even more nuanced themes along these same lines, such as the potential for generative creativity, union, and the conscious embodiment of these energies.

At the time of this Taurus full Moon, Venus will have moved backwards into the sign of Libra, having just had her inferior conjunction with the Sun at 00°45’ Scorpio on Friday, October 23 at 10:44 pm. The inferior conjunction with the Sun during Venus’s retrograde is thought to be a time of seeding, when something new is planted -  here is a chance to shift our Venus expression, now that we have burned away that which we have identified as no longer sustaining us. Venus is transforming and changing, a creative impulse is being passed from the Sun to Venus - she is creating herself anew. Venus is also physically close to the Earth at this time, even though we can’t see her - she is very close to us at the time of the inferior conjunction. Know that whatever you are creating anew, you have beautiful, sparkling Venus close to you, encouraging you in your creation - even though you can’t see her in the sky just yet. This Venus conjunction to the Sun is similar to the New Moon cycle, but this is a “New Venus”.

You may experience some hints about your own renewal and rebirth of your personal Venus expression at this time, and this Taurus full Moon may be shedding some light on these hints. Oftentimes during the 40 days of Venus’s retrograde, people from our past will show up in some way - via social media, in conversation, in real life, in our thoughts, our dreams, or perhaps a late night text. Here’s a recent real life example: an astrology colleague was looking at old pictures with a friend, and his friend pointed to a picture and said, “Omg, there’s that one guy you dated!”, sending them both down memory lane. So the reunion can show up just about anywhere. While the romantic in us might want to believe that this is the Universe or Venus giving love a second (or third, or fourth, or fifth) chance, that is not likely the case. The Universe does provide us guidance if we’re open to it, but not in a Hallmark movie storyboard format. It is typically more like an assignment if you choose to accept it; it is likely that Venus retrograde is bringing this person back into our life to highlight a theme that we tend to experience in relationship that needs some attention, work, and likely release. Venus wants us to go on the underworld journey with her, not simply to wallow in the relationship mire, and to cover ourselves with the blood and bones of our dead relationships - no! Venus wants us to be brutally honest with ourselves, and get down to the heart of the issue so that it can be brought into the fires of the Sun and burned away, purifying us of some of our human foibles, thereby allowing us to rise again and create ourselves anew in a more sustainable and life-affirming way.

Venus began her retrograde journey in Scorpio, but at this Taurus full Moon, she is in Libra - another sign she rules. Venus in Libra is known as Venus Urania, the love goddess, the relational evening star, concerned with social graces and politeness. Libra as a style of awareness is all about composition - including what’s the vibe in this room, what are the dynamics here, what’s needed? There can be an attunement to that type of dimension of our life experience - the relational air flow. With Venus retrograde soon to emerge as morning star in Libra, here we have an opportunity to switch our orientation from being too relational, too much “other focused”, to cultivating our own independence, our own distinct sense of our subjective experience. Rather than looking too much to the other, we can begin to connect with the other in a healthier, more sustainable way - remaining aware of the relational air flow, but not beholden to it.

  • The Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus  are in a Fixed sign t-square with Pluto in Aquarius at 03°05’. Pluto stationed direct on October 10.

Here we have the intensity of Pluto again, now moving direct. Pluto is about power and transformation, echoing themes from the Venus retrograde, but there is another echo here: Pluto stationed direct on October 10. With Pluto now moving in direct motion, and Venus having had her inferior conjunction with the Sun on October 23, there is a feeling of powerful shifts and transformations occurring at this full Moon in Taurus. Whatever was shed during the first part of the Venus retrograde is now ready to transform into something new - Venus is just beginning her emergence, the first leg of the journey to her return.

  • The Sun at 02°45’ Scorpio is out-of-sign conjunct Venus retrograde at 29°31’ Libra; the Moon is out-of-sign conjunct Chiron retrograde at 28°20’ Aries.

While Venus and Chiron are both retrograde in Cardinal signs, they are both close enough to the Luminaries to be pulled into this Fixed sign t-square. As we’ve been saying since the Equinox: with Pluto, we have the probing intensity, and with relational Venus, that intensity can show up somehow in our expression of Venus - in the way that we relate to others, or to beauty, art, creativity, pleasure, or money. Some examples of this could be:

  • Shaking people out of their delusions with some Real Talk around Venusian themes

  • A willingness to face uncomfortable truths with regard to Venusian themes

  • Making space for intense or painful conversations to happen around Venusian themes

  • Rubbing some folks the wrong way by coming on too strong - creatively, relationally, financially or romantically

The difference at this full Moon is that Venus is now in Libra, fast on her way to becoming a morning star in about a week. This “New Venus” may be lending a warrior queen vibe to this square to Pluto. This Venus feels a little more dynamic and sure of her new expression, though she may still be in the situation room, strategizing her grand reemergence. Remember, the Aztec and Mayan people believed that Venus morning star is reborn as a female goddess of war, rising from the underworld covered in blood and the bones of the dead, ready for battle. So Pluto may meet his match with this new Venus in Libra, as she readies herself to meet the challenge of creating herself anew.

Chiron retrograde in Aries conjunct the full Moon in Taurus could indicate an old wound being reactivated at this full Moon, one that may be triggered by that soon-to-be morning star/warrior queen Venus in Libra. Perhaps Venus’s strategizing in the situation room is somehow scraping at that wound. Can you allow the full Moon in Taurus to illuminate that which needs to be healed in order for you to create yourself anew, and to emerge as your own version of morning star Venus in Libra, the warrior queen?

Contemplations at this full Moon in Taurus:

  • What is this Taurus full Moon illuminating for you around the themes of Venus’s retrograde journey?

  • Have any hints or whispers emerged that may indicate the shape of your new Venus expression that may be forming?

  • Is there anything that needs to be released for you to meet the challenge of creating yourself anew in this new Venus expression that may be forming?

  • Whatever was shed during the first part of the Venus retrograde is now ready to transform into something new - can you direct that feeling of powerful shifts and creative transformations into something that works for a nourished, purified you at this full Moon?

  • What may the full Taurus Moon be illuminating for you that needs to be released in order for you to be ready to stand steady in yourself, improved in your ability to be in relationship with others in a healthier way that sustains you?

  • What may this full Moon in Taurus be reflecting for you around your own experience or expression of gender? What can you do to allow this reflection to occur with awareness and intentional focus? Is there something that you need to release that will then allow for a conscious claiming of both the masculine and feminine energies inside of you? These reflections are valid for all, no matter how you identify along the gender spectrum.

  • This reflection could also include even more nuanced themes along these same gender-spectrum lines, such as the potential for generative creativity, union, and the conscious embodiment of these energies. Is there anything being illuminated for you at this full Moon along these more nuanced lines?

When releasing during the full Moon, I like to make it a thing. It doesn’t have to be exactly at the time of the full Moon.

Here is the timing for releasing for this full Moon in Taurus:

Sunday evening, October 25, 6:34 pm through Thursday morning, October 29, 6:23 am

Note: when releasing, avoid the Void-of-Course Moon time of:

 Tuesday, October 27: 9:51 am - 8:01 pm (10 hours, 10 minutes)

When releasing during the full Moon, take some time and create a sacred space for yourself and whoever else would like to make it a thing with you. This doesn’t have to be elaborate. Simply sitting quietly and focusing on your breath with lightly closed eyes and spine as erect as possible, or focusing on the sounds in your environment and intentionally taking this moment to connect with yourself and with the nurturing energy of the Moon - which I like to think of as our Cosmic Mother. If you have a meditative practice, feel free to incorporate that into your full Moon practice, but let the Moon guide you, don’t get too far into your solar self of Doing - allow yourself to simply exist in your lunar self of Being. If you like to really get into your ritual practice, please do make it as elaborate as you wish.

At the end of my full Moon practice, I like to make a list of what I’m releasing. I simply write “I release:” at the top of a piece of paper, and then I write down everything that came up during my quiet time with myself. And then I burn that mofo! Safely and mindfully into my little metal cauldron - let’s not set our selves or homes or fields alight please. It really is very freeing to watch the smoke from the burning list curl up into the ethers. Some folks like to incorporate the water element by tossing the cooled ashes into a body of water afterwards, but I’m happy to scatter them to the winds, figuring they’ll make it to water someday. COOLED ashes, mind you, ok? Like totally, 100% completely cold ashes, the next day at the earliest, but preferably even later than that. And there, just like that you have made some space for your higher Self to lead you on to your highest and best expression of yourself. I’m a big proponent of gratitude, and I like to give thanks at the end of my practice, so do give thanks to whatever Deity you feel is guiding you. If you are PTSD from CCD or whatever other childhood teachings were foisted upon you, and don’t like the idea of Deities, simply give thanks to yourself for making this time to connect with yourself and give thanks to the Universe for coexisting with you.

Because as my yoga teacher Jaki Nett likes to say that everything comes back to yoga, we’ll tie this practice into yoga philosophy, wherein which one of the eight limbs of yoga are the Niyamas. The Niyamas are virtues or individual disciplines which calm the disturbed mind. One of these five Niyamas is known as Isvara Pranidhana, or “surrender to the Divine of all our actions”. In surrendering, we allow for the Divine to work its own magic, co-creating with us. If you’d like to work with the Zodiacal houses, and aren’t sure which house this Full Moon falls in your chart, feel free to reach out to me for that information.
