Virgo New Moon 2025

Virgo as the Kore Goddess archetype, and a helluva good read by my fabulous teacher, Dr. Rossi

The first Virgo New Moon of 2025 occurs on Saturday, August 23, at 1:06 am CST. I say first, because there will be a second Virgo New Moon of 2025 in the late degrees of Virgo in September, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. I’m posting this blog for the first Virgo New Moon of 2025 later than I like because I am but human.

Once again the New Moon - this time in Virgo - is having a chat with all of the heavy hitters of the Cosmos, giving our intention-setting a feeling of transcendence beyond our personal experiences. Remember back to the Summer Solstice chart, when we talked about the yod aspect pattern? Well, we have yet another yod in this Virgo New Moon chart, this time with the Sun and Moon in Virgo at 00°23’ forming the apex of the yod, quincunx the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries at 00°35’ and 01°34’ respectively, and quincunx Pluto in Aquarius at 01°56’, which if we have our pattern visualized in our mind, (or the chart pulled up on our computer) we see that forms a sextile between Saturn/Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius.

As we said back at the Summer Solstice, the energy of the yod is restless - the planets influence each other in irritating ways, as they are all in different elements (Fire, Earth, Air or Water) and modalities (Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable), and they don’t fully comprehend one another’s expression of the planetary energies. However, if we as humans learn to handle these discrepant energies, accept the inevitable unrest in ourselves and in the world, remain flexible (even when things go wrong, as things going wrong can sometimes be a blessing in disguise), and be courageous enough to live our own lives while keeping our minds open, there is tremendous creative potential in the energy of the yod.

With Pluto again present in this New Moon yod, let’s again don’t be afraid to ask ourselves the hard questions that maybe we don’t necessarily want to know the answer to, perhaps confronting what is painful or ugly within ourselves. But let’s also keep in mind that the Saturn/Neptune conjunction is also present, and allow ourselves to visualize the ideal concept or experience that we would like to work to bring into form in our lives. As we described it at the Leo New Moon, the energy of Saturn/Neptune can feel as though we are being urged to become the part of the Universe that we are meant to be, perhaps through an inspirational spiritual vision for our intentions that emerges from the flow and stream of consciousness; this vision may be accompanied by an ability to plan strategically to bring those visions into concrete form, through consistent and disciplined effort. As we said prior, we may experience the git ‘r done energy of Saturn coupled with the transcendent fairy glamour energy of Neptune.

With the Moon and Sun in mutable Earth Virgo, Pluto in fixed Air Aquarius and Saturn/Neptune in cardinal Fire Aries, we know that those energies may express simultaneously and likely in an irritating way due to those differing modalities and elements. With Saturn/Neptune in cardinal Fire Aries, there may be a drive toward initiating and bringing that ideal concept or experience into form. With Pluto in fixed Air Aquarius, that energy of getting to the bottom of something by thinking it through inside and out, following uncomfortable lines of thought that we may not normally engage with, and sticking with those thought experiments through the discomfort that they may unearth may be present at this Virgo New Moon.

And finally, we have the apex of the yod - the Sun and Moon conjunct in my arguably favorite Zodiac sign, mutable Earth Virgo. So here with this New Moon we may have an ability to pivot with that mutable Earth energy, tweaking and perfecting that which we have conceptualized after our soul-searching thought process, and courageously bringing the most efficient and effective ideas into form in our lives. Since the Sun and Moon in Virgo are also closely square Uranus in Gemini at 01°22’, let this process be shocking, rebellious and progressive - to yourself, and to those around you if you are feeling courageous. This Uranus is still sextile to the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries, and trine to Pluto in Aquarius, which as mentioned in previous blog posts is an aspect pattern that is gonna be around for a while. With Uranus, there is always the possibility of sudden breakthroughs, those Eureka! moments that seem to materialize out of thin air, so allow that to happen, even if it feels unstable, tense or disruptive. You just may be feeling courageous enough to allow for this opportunity, as the ruler of this New Moon, Mercury, is in creative, enthusiastic Leo, sextiling bold Mars in maneuvering and persuasive Libra.

I have found that using the house placement in which the New Moon occurs in so useful for setting intentions and manifesting ideas into form, as it not only helps me to organize my thoughts, but if utilized throughout the year, touches on each area of life that the houses represent, helping us to become more well-rounded individuals. Also, it allows for Divine co-creation, as it often magically lines up with what is already wanting to come forth in that specific area of life in which the New Moon occurs.

Setting intentions or manifesting by house placement topics;

if the New Moon falls in your:

1st house: The approach you take when confronting life’s challenges

2nd house: How to bring spiritual ideas into a more harmonious adjustment with daily needs

3rd house: Inner cleverness at examining and using the various angles that life presents

4th house: How you achieve greater inner personal strength, develop more as a person, and increase your overall emotional growth

5th house: Learning to find enjoyment or satisfaction from the routine tasks of life

6th house: Examining your life, your lifestyle, the personal satisfaction you get from your work, living, etc. - a never-ending process of re-examination

7th house: Examine the imperfections found within your present social circumstances

8th house: Distillation, extraction, removal, investigation, probing, analysis, getting to the depth, the innards, the core of anything

9th house: Pursuit of knowledge in a formal way

10th house: Contribution to society

11th house: May begin with social or inner discontent, transformed into shaping a new way of adjusting to or living with life - sometimes a sudden revelation, other times ideas come from slowly changing conditions

12th house: The subjective, the inner, the changing part of our inner definitions
